Creation Laboratory | Description and Philosophy
TransFormation’s creation laboratories facilitate enriching exchanges and research within our dance community. The laboratories are a meeting point, a crossroads of creative ideas and inventive approaches.
The laboratory’s aim is to provide both established and emerging choreographers with the professional means to research with their peers. The choreographers can take creative risks, explore new choreographic concepts and tread into unknown territory while working with a large number of dancers, typically an unusual event in the contemporary dance scene. For the dancers’ part, they are offered the opportunity to experience the unique choreographic process of their chosen choreographer while exploring the physical and emotional power that is generated by working in a large group.
We provide a neutral environment in which choreographic ideas can be developed, explored, confronted and nurtured. This creative atmosphere is conducive to inciting future collaborations, employment prospects and new artistic revelations and avenues in Canadian contemporary dance.
The culmination of these creation laboratories will be shared during our closing presentation in the Salle Orange of the Édifice Wilder.
