This class is very similar to the daily class that is given to the Batsheva Dance Company dancers. Gaga is a new way of gaining knowledge and self-awareness through your body. Gaga provides a framework for discovering and strengthening your body and adding flexibility, stamina and agility while lightening the senses and imagination. Gaga raises awareness of physical weaknesses, awakens numb areas, exposes physical fixations, and offers ways for their elimination. The work improves instinctive movement and connects conscious and unconscious movement, and it allows for an experience of freedom and pleasure in a simple way, in a pleasant space, in comfortable clothes, accompanied by music, each person with himself and others.
Sarah received her training at l’École Supérieure de Ballet du Quebec where she studied with Christine Clair, Daniel Seillier and Alexandra Wells. After graduating in 1996, she joined the Alberta Ballet for one year. She then came back to Montreal to dance with Les Grands Ballets Canadiens. During her thirteen years with the company she danced in ballets choreographed by George Balanchine, Fernand Nault, Jean-Christophe Maillot, Jiri Kylian, Ohad Naharin, Stjin Celis and Nacho Duato.
Sarah retired from Les Grands Ballets in May 2011 and went on to teach classical ballet to competitive figure skaters. In 2012 Sarah started her teacher training in the Essentrics Method and became a certified Essentrics Instructor . Since 2017 she started her Gaga teacher training in Israel with Ohad Naharin and the Batsheva dance company. Sarah is excited to return to her dance roots and share her passion of Ohad’s movement language with others.
